Media Coverage of
Election Campaign
This project aimed to educate and
logistically train journalists and other media
technicians on fair, objective, professional, and
un-biased election reporting. This project takes a
holistic approach including a wide range of media
roles including reporters, editors, photographers,
and anchors in all forms of media production: print,
television, photography, and radio. This holistic
approach ensures that the entire chain of media
command understands the importance of professional
reporting on elections.
The objectives for this training included:
• To improve Palestinian journalist's capacities in
covering elections
• To support free and independent media in Palestine
• To strengthen the democratic process of elections
in Palestine
This project involved the following four phases of
training and production:
Phase One-

"Introductory Training on Elections," which explores
the most basic and theoretical issues on election
reporting and election laws.

This phase included in-house
technical trainings for each media industry: radio,
print, television, and photography. The in-house
technical training focuses on improving the
capacities of local media technicians, relating
specifically to professional election reporting.
Phase Four-
This phase represents a production phase where participants of the above
mentioned trainings produced news articles, photos,
radio and TV feature stories depending on their
specific field of work.
