Live TV Talk Shows " Face to Face "

Period: July 2005 - June 2006

Ma’an Network produced and broadcast eight TV talk shows on local issues of concern (social, political and economic) live from eight cities of the West Bank. The talk shows took place in public areas, such as youth centers, municipality halls, schools, restaurants and hotels throughout the major cities of the West Bank. The project aimed to challenge Ma'an Network TV stations to produce difficult but innovative and creative talk shows. In addition, the project aimed to support democracy and freedom of speech in Palestine as it enables direct contact between Palestinian representatives and their electorate.
Each live talk show opened public debates, involved citizens in public discussions, promoted political accountability, and challenged and improved the Ma’an stations’ production skills and capacities.
The eight two-hour live talk shows took place in Nablus, Ramallah, Jenin, Hebron, Tulkarem, Bethlehem, Qalqilia, and Jericho. Unlike other programs on the independent Palestinian television, the "Face to Face" program was broadcast live on all Ma’an TV stations simultaneously, engaging a wider audience in the live public exchanges from outside the audience.

This project is funded by the National Endowment for Democracy.
