Weekly Radio Talk Show: Kadaya Ma'an
Period: July 2007- June 2008
Objectives:
This project was designed to provide our local radio partners with valuable
production experience and enhance cooperation between
Ma'an
Network’s member radio stations, while also providing the public with
informative, talk radio content. Each 90-minute program included 30-40 minutes
of news and features stories from local radio correspondents, followed by 50-60
minutes of participatory discussion with subject experts and live calls from
listeners. The programs addressed a broad range of topics, expanding the notion
of the political beyond the Israeli-Palestinian conflict to encompass issues
such as workers’ rights, municipal services, Palestinian Authority (PA)
policies, consumer protection laws, drug addiction, unemployment, corruption,
and economic development initiatives.
Results:
-
44 weekly programs were broadcast
simultaneously on ten local radio stations covering the entire West Bank
and Gaza, and as a live feed on Ma'an Network’s online radio portal (www.maanradio.net).
