Period: January 2009 – April 2010

Objectives:

·    To increase Palestinian knowledge of the European Union, EU institutions, and EU cooperation activities in the Palestinian territories

·    To promote Euro-Palestinian dialogue and mutual understanding through innovative media programs portraying the human face of EU-Palestinian relations

This project is part of the European Neighborhood and Partnership Instrument (ENPI) Regional Information and Communication Programme.

Results:

·    Produced the first Palestinian University Challenge, Stars (An-Najoum), which was broadcast at the end of 2009. Over 10 episodes, 45 students from nine universities across the West Bank and Gaza competed in the first live-audience national TV quiz show produced in Palestine.

·    A series of five TV documentaries exploring Europe through the eyes of five different Palestinian students living and studying in France, Belgium and the UK.

·    Advertising campaign on EU activities in the occupied Palestinian territories.

·    14 TV feature stories on EU-funded projects in the occupied Palestinian territories.

·    Weekly radio talk show, East and West, featuring guests discussing topics ranging from culture to alternative energy to migration; 13 episodes broadcast from June through August 2009.

·    A 25-episode radio quiz, From Here and There, which ran throughout Ramadan 2009. Thousands of Palestinians competed to win prizes including laptops and appliances via live call-ins and SMS, answering questions on European history, geography, politics, economics and culture.
