Multimedia Public Awareness Campaign: Go Vote!

Period: December 2005 - February 2006

Objectives:    

•  Encouraging public participation in the democratic process

•  Educating Palestinian citizens about election procedures and recent procedural changes

This multi-media voter education campaign was designed to raise awareness of voting procedures, overcome public skepticism regarding the political process, and increase turnout for the Palestinian Legislative Council (PLC) elections in January 2006. It included production of TV and radio spots, television drama shows, and televised interviews with key Palestinian political and religious figures, as well as civil society representatives. Ma'an also TV talk shows on issues relating to the elections, and a continuous live broadcast during the elections themselves on 25 January 2006.

Results:

• Media campaign broadcast on all Ma'an Network TV and radio stations during December 2005 and January 2006.
