Objective:

• Enabling Palestinian journalists to communicate directly with Israeli sources.

Amidst the damage of the second Intifada, the number of Palestinians who speak, understand, and read Hebrew has become even more limited. Yet, knowledge of Hebrew is an essential skill to enable media professionals to comprehend both sides of a story from primary sources, and thus provide balanced coverage and comprehensive newsgathering.

 Results:

• Twenty journalists received 100 hours of Hebrew language training provided by a Jerusalem-based Al-Jazeera producer.
